Royal Coast Labs finds fields in the middle of a shift, builds working products from inside them, and turns the strongest into companies. Some become ventures. Some stay in the lab as proof of what is possible. All of them are real.
Our work
A flagship in development, two established products, and an ongoing system. Each stands on its own.
Caddie
An AI workspace for college instructors. Caddie drafts grading feedback, study materials and lesson plans from the instructor's own rubrics and readings, and the instructor approves every word.
Student names and personal details are replaced before any AI model sees the work, so faculty get help without handing over their students.

Simon
An autonomous trading research system that separates prediction from strategy, reports its real performance, and fails loudly when it does not know something.
Also in the lab: prototypes we build quickly to test an idea in the open, from a plain-language task organizer to tools we have not named yet.
A coast is where two worlds meet and reshape each other.
Law, education and medicine were built for a slower way of working. The openings are at the seam, and most technology aimed at these fields is designed by people looking in from outside. We build from inside the institutions we change.

Every product targets a change already underway, not a small improvement on how things work today.

Ideas reach a working prototype quickly. The ones that fail their tests are shelved without sentiment.

Our products report their real performance, including when they are wrong or unsure. So do we.
Founder
Regis Joseph Acosta
A lawyer, AI solutions architect and adjunct faculty member who has spent his career inside the institutions Royal Coast Labs builds for. He has deployed AI with attorneys and federal agencies, teaches at Nazareth University, and ships his own software.
The name is his, too. Regis means king, and Acosta means by the coast.
Rochester, on purpose
We build here and sell everywhere.
Rochester's universities train exceptional engineers, designers and researchers, and most of them leave after graduation. We would rather they stay and build. Our team works with students from the University of Rochester, RIT and Nazareth University.
